Why your support matters—NOW.
Franklin County Residential Services, Inc. has been a trusted not-for-profit resource for thousands of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families for more than 30 years. Despite our longstanding history, our mission to provide quality programs and services has become increasingly difficult as we have been forced to face a new economic reality, and endure multiple cuts in funding.
We need your help to:
Countywide, the number of individuals with developmental disabilities requesting services continues to climb. The Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities has seen the number of people receiving services increase at a rate of 4-5 percent per year.
At FCRS, we receive calls daily from new individuals and families looking for help and support. At the same time, we continue to face cuts in funding; making it increasingly difficult to welcome these new families, let alone meet the needs of the current individuals we serve at the level of support we have historically provided for our community.
We’ve heard it from our families for years—staff stability and longevity are critically important. Our staff turnover rate is currently one of the lowest in the state, but the ability for our organization to continue to maintain outstanding services with a professional staff that individuals know and trust is being jeopardized.
Individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities here in Central Ohio are in need—and to provide services that will improve their lives and strengthen our community, we need your help.
As the population continues to age, those caring for individuals with developmental disabilities face an uncertain future. More services are typically needed, but oftentimes there are no options specifically designed for the developmentally disabled population.
FCRS is exploring one new initiative to address these needs: a dedicated facility for Alzheimer’s patients that would offer FCRS long-term residential services in a safe environment for those with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
In 2007, FCRS celebrated the opening of the Palmer-Donavin House, a respite care facility for individuals with developmental disabilities on Columbus’ southwest side. The project, a commemoration of Palmer-Donavin Manufacturing Company’s 100th anniversary, was funded by the company and many of its vendors and business partners. This point of pride would not exist without the support of many generous donors who stepped up to make a difference in the lives of so many.
Your support of FCRS is an investment in our community, and will enable us to expand our offerings to include more individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, and ensure our remarkable staff continues to provide outstanding care and services.
Your donation will make a difference. Every gift is appreciated. Every dollar counts.
