Adaptive Equipment, Special Diets, Home
Modification, and the Other Categories

Providing the tools you need to make a difference.

FCRS facilitates Family Support Funding, provided by the State of Ohio. The Quarterly Allocation for Adaptive Equipment, Special Diets, Home Modifications, and “Other” Categories funding opportunity helps financially support eligible families caring for a child or adult with developmental disabilities at home. This funding can also be used towards the special medical, dietary, environmental, and personnel needs of a family member with a developmental disability.

Families may request these funds four times each year.

How it works:

  • Family Support funds are equally divided among all requesting families.
  • The number of families submitting requests will determine approval of dollar amounts.
  • Families will be notified of the amount approved for funding by an automated phone system.
  • Phone calls will be made seven days after the identified cut-off date for the quarter.
  • All families then follow the department funding guidelines for all requested funding.
  • Within Franklin County, certain funding restrictions apply to computer equipment and software.

* REMEMBER – if you have not completed a Family Support Services Application and submitted it to FCRS, you are not eligible to apply for this funding. Please submit your Family Support Services application to FCRS. Once it has been reviewed, it will be sent to the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities Intake Office and returned to FCRS. We will then send you a letter indicating your eligibility has been approved and you can apply for Family Support Funds.
