Family Support Funding

Helping you help those you love.

Franklin County Residential Services (FCRS) was created to promote and celebrate the uniqueness of every individual it serves. As a not-for-profit organization, FCRS champions efforts to help each person take an active part in his or her life. One of the ways is by offering a variety of valuable tools and resources to help families who take care of a child or adult with developmental disabilities in their home.

What is Family Support Funding?
Family Support Funding is provided by the State of Ohio for families who have chosen to keep their family member with developmental disabilities at home. This funding is available on a limited basis through FCRS for services and equipment that include, but are not limited to, adaptive equipment, special diets, and home modifications.

How does it work?

  • Parents/Guardians who have family members with developmental disabilities living full-time in the home are eligible to apply for Family Support Funding by completing an application.
  • Family members with developmental disabilities must also meet the criteria for services as determined by the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
  • The application is reviewed and sent to the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities Intake Office and returned to FCRS with approval of eligibility. FCRS then sends a letter to the family indicating that their eligibility has been approved. After approval has been rendered, families can then contact the Family Support department to review the process for acquiring Family Support Funds.

What are the opportunities for funding?

Family Support Funding is accessed by two separate quarterly allocations by enrolled families in Franklin County:

  • Quarterly Funding for Adaptive Equipment, Special Diets, Home Modification, and the Other Categories: This includes financial support to help with specific items that will help to keep the child or adult at home. Click here for more information.
  • Quarterly Funding for Family-Selected Private Respite Providers and the Counseling, Training & Education Categories:  Enrolled families may request assistance with funding of a “Family-Selected Private Provider” and/or a family- selected Counseling, Training, and Education (CTE) provider through quarterly combined PP/CTE allocations. Click here for more information.
